Stringer's Cottage is a charming fully self-contained one bedroom miner's cottage, set in lush bush surrounds on the outskirts of historic Walhalla. This cosy, romantic cottage is the perfect place to get away from it all, yet just a short walk into the quaint village of Walhalla. It features a full kitchen with gas cooktop and oven, fridge and complimentary tea and coffee. There is a separate shower, toilet and handbasin. The queen size bed features a plush latex mattress and is super comfy and warm for those cold Winter nights, and has a goose down doona to keep you extra toasty. There is a wood fire, wood supplied, 2 fireside chairs, books CDs and a CD player and radio, plus backgammon, playing cards and a variety of games to keep you occupied. There is a foldaway coffee table or you can dine at the kitchen counter while enjoying bush views and a view of Stringer's Creek running below. Keep an eye out for lyrebirds.

Living area: The living room and bedroom are combined so there is a fire at one end and 2 fireside chairs. There is a small selection of books, games and CDs.
Bathroom: Shower with instant gas hot water. Inside toilet and hand basin.
Heating/Cooling: In winter there is a sealed wood fire with glass door to seal in the heat and safely watch the flames. Firewood supplied for first 2 days.
In summer there are fly-screens on the doors and windows so you can leave these open to circulate the breeze, but it's in the valley so doesn't get too much direct sun.

Children: One queen bed only and no room to accommodate extra beds or cots. It has been done but I wouldn't recommend it. The property is not fenced.
Accessibility: There are stairs from the road down to the cottage, though there is designated parking space next door at the Coach House, and the cottage can then be reached without using stairs.
Accessibility features: Handrails on all steps and stairs
Pets: The property is not fenced.
Directions: Take the City Link,Monash Freeway (M1) which then becomes the Princes Freeway (M1), then take the Moe Exit. (Just look for the 'Golden Arches'). From here, follow the brown 'Tourist Drive' signs to Erica/Rawson. (C466) and Walhalla. Turn right to Rawson which is signposted 3km past Erica. Travel along this road through Rawson, then left to Walhalla 1km past Rawson (C461). The Walhalla Coach House is the first house you see as you enter Walhalla and Stringer's Cottage is right next door. To reach it take the first turn right up a dirt road which is clearly sign-posted with a white Stringer's cottage sign amongst others.  This is “Happy Go Lucky Track” (also known as Bruntons Bridge Road or The Old Coach Road), and is just after the “Walhalla” and blue “Bus Turning” signs.  Look out for the Stringers Cottage sign on the cream picket fence to your right and you have arrived.
NOTE: Most GPS and mapping software will not work accurately in this region as mobile coverage starts to drop off after Moe.
