Coopers Creek

Coopers Creek is a charming location located on the way up to Walhalla in the Baw Baw goldfields region. There is a camping ground near a broad mountain river, surrounded by steep forested slopes. Most sites slope a little and are well shaded (some by oaks). The former Copper Mine Hotel is also on site. It has operated as a pub in the past but has since closed. It is however a lovely building which was once a station for coaches which used to climb the old road up to Happy Go Lucky, before descending to Walhalla.

The Copper Mine Hotel functioned in several buildings from the 1860s to circa 1952.

The original Cooper's Creek Hotel has been around for over 100 years, but fell into derelict condition and eventually burnt down in 1999, leaving only the original chimneys.

The building was restored, to its original specifications, reusing the original chimneys.

The pub is now closed to the public.
